myMESS - Title (FS)

New Sermon Series begins Sunday Sept. 11th

#myMESS – not perfect, just better

Messes just seem to happen.  They are never planned.  They appear, then we wonder what to do with them.  Sometimes we make messes of our lives. Sometimes we find ourselves in the middle of messes created by someone else.  How do we deal with them?  We are never going to be perfect, but we can be better . . . and God has everything to do with that.

PRAY FOR ME CAMPAIGN

A really exciting and new church-wide program will begin this Fall. Here is a video that will tell you about the program.

Two things you need to know:

1- You will have the opportunity to attend a Pray for Me Campaign Launch on Sunday, September 11th at 6:00. At this launch you will choose Prayer Champions for your children. Each family will have multiple Prayer Champions that will pray for all of the children within your family as a unit.

2- You will also have the opportunity to become a Prayer Champion for another family or for a youth. This is simply a commitment to pray for children/ youth by name each day. You will be given an awesome guide to use as you pray.

I’m so excited about this opportunity for our church. I hope you will join us! To sign your children up to be prayed for and/or to sign up to be a Prayer Champion go here.

MESSY GAMES 2016, Wed. September 28th 6:15-7:45p

Flood Relief Offering

We have a special opportunity to help an individual family affected by recent flooding in Lousiana.  The family is personal friends with a long-term RUMC member.  A short part of their story is below:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,Flood
We are the High family from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Jay and I have four children-two adult sons, Landon and Micah, who are both working and preparing for graduate school and two little girls who are adopted from China- Rebekah, age 12, and Anna, age 8. This has been an especially difficult time for our girls, particularly Rebekah who is a special needs child.
Our home flooded unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 14. We were awakened in the middle of the night by a neighbor who unselfishly ran door to door to let people know the water was coming. We tried to raise things off the ground, but had to flee our home only an hour and a half later. We made it to my parents home and were evacuated by boat. Tragically, my parents home flooded as well.
We were fortunate in that we at least have flood insurance on our structure, but none on our contents. We lost two vehicles and a great portion of our furniture and belongings. So much was lost that can never be replaced. We are one of 110,000 homes in south Louisiana that has been devastated by this flood. Please remember the many families who have lost so much, many of them with no insurance at all.
We know that even in this, God is working all things together for good and that He will be glorified because of the love and support of the Body of Christ.
God bless you!
Angelle and Jay High
