Connecting with others is so important for our social and spiritual well-being. Our world is already so isolated, so we hope through these Wednesday Connection Groups to help connect us to each other more.

Believing God – Led by Tracy Brown
(Beth More Study for Women) Through studying the Old Testament story of Abraham, participants will be encouraged to believe not just in God but believe God. Faith changes things when we believe God can do what God says God will do and… when you believe you are who God says you are.
Messy People – Led by Kim Wills & Sarah Walker
(Jennifer Cowart Study for Women) Find joy and hope in discussions about life with kids and maintaining healthy relationships (significant others, coworkers, friends..) and of course, with God! Learn, grow and relate to other women seeking authentic spirituality in personal and genuine, real-life ways.
Knowing the Holy Spirit and Genuine Christianity – Led by James Pelt
Explore the answers to the following questions: Who and What is the Holy Spirit? How does He work? Why has Christianity become less authentic for so many believers? How can Christians be more authentic? How does current day circumstances affect our Church’s work and the accomplishment of our Mission Statement? Is this the reason that our religion’s biggest criticism is hypocrisy?
A Generous Orthodoxy – Led by Pastor Chris & Rev. Steven Harthorn
DON’T GIVE UP ON CHURCH! You’re invited to share with two pastors from 2 different denominations as we reflect on Christianity’s BIG STUFF as revealed through distinct denominational traditions. Whether you have wondered what the difference is between denominations, if the denomination mattered at all, or if you’ve been frustrated by the institutional church, this group aims to bring you hope and renewed faith in God’s plan called, “Church.”
Beginning the Conversation – Led by Melissa Holcomb, Alan Chrisman, & Gary Knowles
Explore, in an open and honest way, the history, current climate, and future direction regarding the LGBTQ community and the United Methodist Church. With the idea of inclusiveness in mind, the group will use videos, discussion and some homework to further conversation. Group will be limited to 12 people for ideal, personal discussion.
With Hope in Mind – Led by Rev. Jamie Ellis
Having a family member or close friend with a Mental Illness can be a source of stress, anxiety and even shame. Many people feel a need to keep this as a private issue which only makes things worse. This group will learn, fellowship, support, and grow together in our loving and supporting someone with mental illness. Your group leader is an Ordained Pastor, certified by NAMI as a Mental Health Educator, and the husband of a wife with multiple Mental Health diagnoses.
Financial Peace (University) – Led by Jonathan Walker
It’s time to stop worrying about money! Learn to make and keep a budget, dumb debt and live and give like no one else. Using Biblical principles , gain the tools and learn the lessons need to get control over your finances. There is a financial cost to this class which includes your 9-week workbook and a year of Financial Peace Membership, an online toolkit to support your journey.
Young Adult Ministry – Led by Alison Leon
More than a group, this is a ministry for post H.S. adults through the age of 29. Small group gatherings each Wednesday night with other ministry events and programming to be determined. Your new place to be on Wednesday nights with others your age is RUMC.
