Money…such an important thing in our lives. Where we spend our financial resources reveals a lot about where our treasure is located. Money is a powerful tool that can reward or bring about hardship. Tune is as Pastor Chris continues our series, “Songs of Summer,” with “Money Can’t Buy Me Love.”
Love is the primary characteristic of the beloved community whereby we not only know what love is but we show that love at each moment.
While we may have the notion that being an “all star” means that someone is the best or notable at a particular thing, being an “all star” for Jesus is a much different thing altogether.
While we may have dreams of a real life, uncanny, otherworldly hero who can save the day, as followers of Jesus, we need to realize that in Jesus we do have a rather unconventional hero capable of not only saving the future but saving the present moment.
Through discipleship, we are saying that God is the one that we want. As we live into that relationship with God more, we realize that we are the ones that God wants. Being a part of the beloved community means that we commit to growth in God’s love. This growth happens through humility, grace, and over time.
The third characteristic of the Beloved Community is that those who walk in the light of God’s love cannot hate others who are also walking in the light. John says that someone who does have anger towards a brother or sister is blinded by darkness.
Let’s walk in the sunshine of God’s light and love together.
Welcome to week one of SONGS OF SUMMER, a worship theme series for the summer that will explore a vision of “The Beloved Community” found in the Letters of John. What would it take for us as a church and a fellowship of followers of Jesus to live into vision of a community that embraces the love of God in all that we do?
