AUGUST 49ERS

Helen Young
If you think long hot summers call for relaxing time with friends, you won’t want to miss August 49er’s meeting on August 12th at 6:00 pm in the RUMC Gym. The evening theme will be Hobbies and Collectibles. Bring samples of your favorite hobby or collectible and share your story with friends. Tables will be set up to display your treasures. This is also a good opportunity to learn about a new hobby. If it is not practical to bring your hobby or collectible to the meeting, take pictures to show to other.

We will start the evening with Lasagna for dinner. Please bring side dish or dessert. RSVP Kay Harrell @ 423-504-2737.

NCIC

Janet Cumbee
It’s August and time for NCIC. We will start packing sacks on Monday, August 18, at 1:00. Thanks to your support and that of the community in the 2024-2025 school year, we were able to serve 14 schools and LIFT. We provided over 1700 weekend snack sacks a week for a total of 56,143 weekend snack sacks. Our numbers increased by about 100 students from the previous year.

NCIC has been blessed to receive donations from the church and the community as well as several grants. This year we anticipate the numbers to increase due to potential changes in the SNAP program. As we strive to meet the need of food insecurity for the children in our community, we ask you to consider how you might help. There are three ways you can support this work.

1) DONATE. $60 a year will provide one student with weekend snack sacks for an entire year. Donations (any amount) can be made to RUMC through the church app, given at the church, or mailed.

2) VOLUNTEER. We meet every Monday at 1:00 in the RUMC gym. We welcome you to help pack snack bags, deliver items, or assist in recycling.

3) PRAY. Join us in praying over the students that receive the snack bags along with their families and those who help pack and deliver.

Together we can make a difference for the children in our community!
