CHICKAMAUGA BATTLEFIELD GUIDED TOUR

Hosted by Senior Adult Ministries
Join us in the park visitor center parking lot at 10 AM for a free, fun, and educational morning planned just for you and your guests. We will begin by going into the center, getting a few details from our own personal park ranger, watch a short film presentation of the battle, and then carpool along the short but historical route. Stopping at 3-4 key points we will gather roadside to hear the ranger give a detailed factual report of events of each spot as they happened on September 18-20, 1863.

Congress established Chickamauga National Military Park to preserve and protect the battlefields here and to provide for the study of military history within the park. Today nearly 10,000 acres of preserved and uninhabited landscape encompass the park, making it one of the largest outdoor green spaces in the Chattanooga area.

After the guided tour we will return to the museum to give you the option to walk leisurely through the free but world-famous Fuller Gun Collection of over 2,000 well preserved guns of various eras before leaving.

Please call Marty at 423-227-7209 or email marty@ringgoldumc.org for more details or to volunteer to be a carpool driver.

MAY 49ERS

Helen Young
If it has been a while since you last visited the Catoosa County Library, you will want to join 49er’s May 13 at 6 pm for our monthly meeting in the RUMC Gym. We are pleased to have Friends of the Library president, Janet Cumbee, and a Catoosa County Library representative as our guest speakers. They will share insight of current and upcoming library services and activities.

One other note:  Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May. Thinking about our Mother often brings back many memories. One common memory is a favorite food she would prepare. To honor our mother or other special person in our lives, we thought it would be fun to bring a side dish or dessert that she would have made for you as a child. Of course, this is just an option and any dish you bring will be appreciated. Chicken and dressing will be provided.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES

Sally Ensley
Jesus said, “whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst again.”  During the month of May, RUMC has some great, easy opportunities to be a part of our community by helping with two different events.

On Saturday, May 10th, we will be serving as a water station during the early morning Dolly Dash!  We simply setup across the street from the church and handout quick drinks of water to the racers as they come by. This is an easy task of which anyone of any age can help. We will meet at the church at 7:30 that morning to prepare and serve. We will be finished by 10:00.

On Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, Ringgold will be having it’s annual 1890’s Days. This is a tremendous time for us to serve our community and let them know who we are! We will again be giving out water, but in a different way. Anyone who can pull a wagon with two big thermoses of water in it, is very capable of serving! This could be a GREAT family mission opportunity, as well as Sunday School classes or just friends!  We will be signing up for time slots and hope to be able to cover most of the Friday night/Saturday event. Sign up to serve for 1890 Days will be available soon!

Join us as we share Christ’s love with our community through sharing with them the Living water of Christ!

CHURCH-WIDE DINNER WITH A SWEET TWIST

Sally Ensley
On Sunday evening, May 18th, our Supper with Sally and Dinner with Dudes will be sponsoring a church-wide gathering that we want everyone (and your friends) to attend! Ladies, we will get to experience the taste of that great smelling BBQ that we smell each time Supper with Sally meets and men, we will be sharing our side dishes with you!!!  It’s a win-win for everyone! The sweet twist at the end is that we will be having a dessert auction with all benefits going towards our upcoming Children’s Celebration of Summer which will be Saturday, June 7th. This great time of fellowship is for all ages and you don’t have to be a part of Supper with Sally or Dinner with Dudes to attend! Mark your calendar for May 18 and don’t miss this great opportunity for fellowshipping with one another  while enjoying some wonderful food and desserts made by some of the best cooks in Ringgold, GA!!!
