Serving within the Community and the World
Below are the ways you can serve the community and the world through RUMC. If you are interested in serving in any of these ministries or just want to learn more, click on that specific ministry.
This annual event supports community families by inviting them to a Christmas dinner and a brief time of worship. Children get photos with Santa, a wrapped gift, and a stocking, and each family leaves with a box of non-perishable food and a bag filled with household items.
You can make a difference every Monday during the school year. This community outreach program provides weekend snack sacks to Catoosa County students who are at risk of food insecurity on weekends. Take part by helping to source the food items, pack them into sacks and bins, and deliver them each week.
This annual community event is sponsored by several organizations in our county in which hundreds of children in Catoosa County receive free school supplies, haircuts, immunizations, and more. RUMC gives out backpack tags and school supplies during the event.
Reaching into the community, Faithworks helps meet the needs of individuals as well as other non-profit organizations. The goal is to have a monthly project or to partner with an organization, and to provide opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need. These projects are often suitable for all ages and usually occur on the weekends.
Local Community Response
This team's role is to assist congregation and community members who may not be able to do projects around their house themselves. This could include fixing a mailbox, replacing a lightbulb, building a ramp, cutting up fallen trees, or other landscaping needs. Most local projects will be planned for weekends. You DO NOT have to be over 21 or certified to participate in local projects.
Early Emergency Response
This team’s role is to act as an early emergency response team in the event of disasters. Team members should expect to work up to five days away from home and MUST BE 21 years of age and certified by attending UMCOR ERT training through the North Ga conference.
This mission provides vital support for the Les Pionneres de Momance School and a medical/dental clinic in Momance, Haiti. Help break the cycle of poverty and foster a brighter future for the children in Haiti by sponsoring a child and praying for the community.
This committee through the church and through collaboration with outside organizations supports Catoosa County residents in need of temporary assistance with rent, utilities, etc. To be eligible, a multi-faceted evaluation of need is conducted. Requests can be made through the church office.
