1 John 4:10-12

Passage

10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Devotional

What wonderful news! God loved us so much that he sent his Son to save us from our sins! God did that for you and for me, but the scripture continues to say that we must love others! If we are honest, that is not always easy! In fact it can be down right difficult, but that is what we are called to do!

This past year has been very trying for RUMC! We faced possible disaffiliation and the loss of many members and friends, but we did it with grace and love. We witnessed a historical election in our country all while proclaiming “Peace and Love in 2024”. We welcomed a new pastor and children’s ministry leader and embraced them with love! This church has shown love to those in our community whether it be feeding the local high school football team, building a wheel chair ramp for a neighbor in need, or hosting over 2500 at our annual Trunk or Treat!

During this Advent season, take time to reflect on the many ways our church exemplifies loving one another! Reflect on the many ways God’s love has been bestowed on you! And finally, spread His love to His people so that they will see His love through you!
